I was very fortunate to grow up on the shores of the french Mediterranean with no television or computer games, where I spent countless hours outdoors. I mostly enjoyed snorkeling along the beaches and rocky shores, I was fascinated by all the aquatic animals. I always had this allure for the ocean and the life within. In the late 1980´s, as a young teenager, we moved to Germany. With the sea now far away, I looked for any waterbodies near home, where I would fish. In the mid 1990´s my best friend Frieder Binder showed and taught me the art of flyfishing, this changed my whole perspective, I discovered the quiet gentle fishing approach.
Today I combine all my loves: flyfishing, wildlife and freedive photography. With help of my flyfishing related articles I try to promote the sensitive approach by providing a different angle on this wonderful form of fishing.
Very little is known regarding the large pelagic ocean dwellers, such as the marlin species, seaturtles and whales, be it reproduction, migrations or feeding. Being an avid freediver and underwater photographer, I am capable of providing unusual pictures of rarely seen animals in their natural environment. Thus, I try to open new perpectives especially on the life forms of the oceanic epipelagic realm. I will further try to bridge the gap between oceanic research and the public by producing pictures and stories rarely seen in magazines. I want to inspire people to appreciate the beauty of the (endangered) oceanic and aquatic life.
Expect more unseen pictures to go online here in 2011.
